چکیده

Background: Mixed cropping of forage grasses and legumes can potentially improve the performance herbivores. However, feasibility mixed-cropped with should be examined at different plant densities. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate growth characters chemical composition in dwarf napiergrass ( Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott) Indigofera zollingeriana ) grown using alley cropping. Methods: Three densities Indigofera, i.e ., high density (2 1 plants m -2 , respectively); medium (1.33 low (1 respectively) were applied under rainfed conditions Makassar. Results: Plant significantly affected characteristics, such as height tiller (p<0.05), non-significantly branch (p>0.05) Indigofera. did not affect yielding ability first defoliation annual total yields (p>0.05), except second when dry matter production peaked treatment (p<0.05). In terms composition, fiber concentrations acid detergent neutral fiber, which lowest The lignin cellulose tended lower densities, but differences significant (p>0.05). Conclusion: We consider that systems for are suitable if employed region.

DNA Methylation and Embryogenic Competence in Leaves and Callus of Napiergrass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.).

Quantitative and qualitative levels of DNA methylation were evaluated in leaves and callus of Pennisetum purpureum Schum. The level of methylation did not change during leaf differentiation or aging and similar levels of methylation were found in embryogenic and nonembryogenic callus.

Effect of Different Rates of Ethanol Additive on Fermentation Quality of Napiergrass (Pennisetum purpureum)*

The effect of different rates of ethanol additive on fermentation quality of napiergrass (Pennisetum purpureum) and residual water soluble carbohydrate were studied in the experiment. The addition rate of ethanol was 0%, 1.5%, 2.5%, 3.5%, 4.5% on fresh weight of napiergrass. The laboratory silos were kept in the room, then were opened on 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 30 days after ensiling and the changes of...

Interactions among leguminous trees, crops and weeds in a no-till alley cropping system

Trees improve the soil quality and their rapid growth in the tropics make agroforestry systems potentially effective for establishing low-input agricultural systems in this region. This study assessed the effects of the biophysical interactions among leguminous trees, weeds, cotton and maize in an alley cropping system. The experiment comprised six treatments: Clitoria + Gliricidia; Acacia ...

Antimicrobial Activity of Indigofera suffruticosa

Various organic and aqueous extracts of leaves of Indigofera suffruticosa Mill (Fabaceae) obtained by infusion and maceration were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities. The extracts were tested against 5 different species of human pathogenic bacteria and 17 fungal strains by the agar-solid diffusion method. Most of the extracts were devoid of antifungal and antibacterial a...
